Lexington, S.C. — Although BAPS Charities Columbia held its Walk Green 2018 in the spring, the Lexington School District One Educational Foundation recently received a share of the proceeds.

BAPS Charities Leaders Vandan Shah, Hitesh Patel and Hasmukhbhai Parekh presented a check for $2,930 to Lexington One Educational Foundation Executive Director Julie Anderson Washburn. “We are so appreciative of the BAPS Charities and its leaders, who honor Lexington District One students through their charitable donations to the Educational Foundation,” Washburn said. “We are thankful to BAPS Charities for again including the Foundation in this annual walk.”

Held Sunday, April 29 at Saluda Shoals Park, the Walk Green 2018 is sponsored by BAPS Charities Columbia. It is part of a larger, nationwide effort to plant a billion trees in three years through donations to The Nature Conservancy. This year’s event raised funds for the Lexington One Educational Foundation, the Nature Conservancy and the nationwide initiative to plant a billion trees. Funds donated to the Foundation will support educational initiatives in Lexington District One.

Foundation Vice Chair Rosemary Wilson, who attended the 2018 walk along her with her husband, Greg, said, “We loved participating in the Walk Green this year! BAPS Charities had a terrific turnout for the event, and it was very well organized. Our Foundation board members greatly appreciated the time of walk volunteer organizer, Vandan Shah, who did an outstanding job in leading the efforts. We are also thankful to all of the walk donors and volunteers who helped with the event that day.”
