NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 4, 2022, LEXINGTON, S.C. — The Lexington One Educational Foundation held its Inaugural Fore the Foundation Grand Golf Tournament on May 12, 2022 at Golden Hills Golf & Country Club. After finalizing event financials, the day-long golf tournament turned out to be a huge success in raising over $54,000!

All proceeds from this fundraising event will provide support for Lexington District One schools, teachers and families through educational and need-based funding. Each year the Educational Foundation offers student, teacher and school grants; scholarships to high school seniors; assistance and food to Lexington One families struggling; food, clothing, medical care and more to the district’s McKinney Vento (homeless) students; and much more to assist with needs that the district’s budget cannot provide. Two examples from the 2021-22 school and fiscal year are $33,000 in Bucks for Books Grants that provided $250 grants to all first-year teachers, and $87,768 for Helping Hands Grants to Schools, which assists students and families with need-based assistance.

Executive Director, Julie Anderson Washburn, stated “Our first ever golf tournament was not only a beautiful and fun day for our golfers and volunteers, it was also a tremendous success in raising financial support for the Educational Foundation, which ultimately supports Lexington District One. We greatly appreciate our generous corporate and individuals sponsors who made gifts to the tournament! We are also thankful to our many golfers who played in it. Our awesome volunteers were also critical in making it a smoothly run fundraising event.”

The Educational Foundation’s special events are always important in raising money to support its mission, as well as awareness of needs in Lexington District One. Such kindness enables the foundation to provide all it does for our Lexington District One students, teachers and schools.
