NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 5, 2024, LEXINGTON, S.C. — The Lexington One Educational Foundation leadership was pleased to recently receive 10 large boxes full of close to 2,500 school supply items from the youth of BAPS Charities. The in-kind donation included 100 or more backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, markers, highlighters, glue sticks, pencil sharpeners, rulers, erasers, pencil pouches and much more.

The school supplies will be given to the Lexington District One social workers so that they can pass them out to the students who have the greatest need. The district currently serves more than 28,000 students, so there will be many students who arrive at school and need such classroom items as they return to the classrooms in the coming week.

BAP Charities leader and former Educational Foundation Board Member Vandan Shah shared, “Our Spiritual Leader His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj lived and taught us the motto, ‘In the joy of others lies our own.’ As you can see through the website, BAPS Charities has supported and continues to support all in need wherever possible globally.”

Educational Foundation Executive Director Julie Anderson Washburn shared, “We are extremely thankful to the youth of the BAPS Charities who took the time to collect so many school supplies for our students. In doing so, they not only help the students whose families are struggling, but they also raise awareness of the needs of many of our Lexington District One students. We have been fortunate to have a number of local businesses donate school supplies this year, but this is by far the largest in-kind donation that we have received. BAPS Charities Columbia is such a generous philanthropic partner to help Lexington District One students truly start the school year better prepared to learn.”
