Success with Foundation’s 2018 Central Services Drive to Assist Students in Need

September 17, 2018

September 17, 2018: During the month of August 2018, the Lexington One Educational Foundation held a Back to School Drive in Central Services not to collect school supplies, but to ask for help in creating Emergency Kits to give to Lexington One families who find themselves temporarily out of a home due to an emergency. Our Lexington One social workers appreciate having Emergency Kits on hand to give to each of the students and the members of their families who find themselves in these desperate situations.

We had an amazing response from Central Services staff, as well as a few local supporters including Dr. Brad Pitts and Dr. Thomas Trinkner.

Each Emergency kit included items such as the following:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Bath Towel
  • Washcloth
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Small First Aid Kit
  • Shampoo
  • Body Wash
  • Deodorant
  • Hair Brush
  • Ibuprofen
  • Band-Aids
  • Lotion
  • Soap
  • Q-tips

Volunteers packaged all items in large plastic zip lock bags that can be easily grabbed and handed out quickly to families in need. The response was so positive that we were able to create a total of 45 Emergency kits this year!

Many thanks to everyone who made a donation this year in giving to this worthwhile effort! Your kindness will go a long way in helping Lexington One families in need!
