NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 15, 2022, LEXINGTON, S.C. — The Lexington One Educational Foundation will hold three special events in 2023 that will support its educational and need-based endeavors that are focused on Lexington County School District One.

The Foundation’s annual Celebration of Excellence in Education will be held Monday, March 6, 2023, at River Bluff High School in the Lexington One Performing Arts Center.  This event honors the academic achievements of the top 10% of students in the Senior Classes of all five high schools in Lexington County School District One – Gilbert High, Lexington High, Pelion High, River Bluff High and White Knoll High Schools. Sponsors are needed to support the district’s top seniors as they are celebrated at this annual event.

On the morning of Thursday, July 20, 2023, Lexington School District One will hold a “Leading as One” back to school training session for all district and school administrators, which will include all principals, assistant principals, central services administrators and other select staff.  The Lexington One Educational Foundation helps with this event each year by providing the “Leading as One” Administrators’ Breakfast, thanks to generous support from individual and corporate sponsors.

Our Second Annual Fore the Foundation Grand Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Golden Hills Golf & Country Club.  All proceeds from this fundraising event will provide support for Lexington District One schools, teachers and families through educational grants, as well as need-based grants. Naturally, the Educational Foundation staff welcomes individuals and businesses to support its mission through tournament sponsorship, in addition to golfers making plans to play in the tournament. The 2022 tournament was a fun event for all who participated and was a big success in raising more than $54,000 to support Lexington One Educational Foundation efforts.

Each year the Lexington One Educational Foundation provides financial and in-kind support to Lexington County School District One in many ways. It offers academic support via school and teacher grants; scholarships and need-based higher education grants to graduating high school seniors; short-term financial assistance and food to Lexington District One families who are struggling due to a crisis; food, clothing, medical care and more to the district’s McKinney Vento (homeless) students; and much more to assist with needs that the district’s budget cannot provide.

The Educational Foundation’s special events are extremely important in raising money to support its mission. And our generous donors make all foundation efforts possible!

We encourage individuals and businesses to get involved by supporting Lexington District One through the foundation’s event sponsorships in the new year. Visit the foundation’s website (www.Lex1EdFound.org) and/or contact the Educational Foundation’s Executive Director, Julie Anderson Washburn (803-821-1008), and to learn more. Thank you for sharing the Educational Foundation’s mission with others!
