Lexington High School Men’s Soccer team raises $5000 for those battling cancer in Lexington County School District One.
LEXINGTON, S.C.– Lexington High School Men’s Soccer team raised $5000 for the “Cats Kick Cancer” fund, which is used to support Lexington District One employees, students and parents or guardians of students who are actively battling cancer and need financial assistance to make ends meet. Cats Kick Cancer has raised over $150,000 since its inception in 2011. The fund is managed by the Lexington One Educational Foundation and provides financial grants for needs like rent, utilities, food, and medical bills.
The soccer team, led by Head Coach Will Gettys, raises money annually by selling “Cats Kick Cancer” bracelets and securing sponsorships based on goals scored. In addition to supporting the fund, their efforts help players become well-rounded individuals by connecting with and assisting families in need.
“We are incredibly grateful for the dedication of the Lexington High School Men’s Soccer team,” says Pam Altman, Executive Director of the Educational Foundation. “Their continued commitment to the ‘Cats Kick Cancer’ fund highlights the vital need to support our students, employees, and families in Lexington District One who are facing cancer. This generous donation directly helps members of our district community make ends meet during one of the most challenging times in their lives.”
