Lexington County Bar Association Supports Students via Caring Heart Fund Gifts

June 25, 2020

June 25, 2020, LEXINGTON, S.C. — The Lexington County Bar Association members recently held a month-long fundraising drive to benefit the Lexington County School District One Educational Foundation. Donors directed drive gifts to the foundation’s Caring Heart Fund, which assists students in need who attend Lexington County School District One.

Four Lexington County Bar Association leaders formally presented a $3,500 check to Educational Foundation Executive Director Julie Anderson Washburn, along with Lexington District One Student Administration Director Clark Cooper and Social Worker Alma Puente Ruiz. The Foundation staff work closely with the district’s social workers, as they identify and assist families in great need.

Lexington County Bar Association leaders who attended the check presentation included current association President Katherine G. Gettys of Gettys Law Firm LLC; President-Elect Anna Williams of Williams, Stitely & Brink; Secretary Derrick Mobley of Derrick E. Mobley LLC; and Tiffany Burkett of Burkett Law Firm LLC.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many parents of Lexington District One students have been unable to work and provide for their families. Accordingly, the Lexington One Educational Foundation’s Caring Heart Fund enables Lexington District One social workers to help families who experience the devastating financial effects of the coronavirus quarantine.

Julie Washburn expressed sincerest appreciation on behalf of the Foundation, “We are extremely thankful to the Lexington County Bar Association for the members’ kind support of our students in Lexington District One. The funds raised will be a tremendous help to us in providing food to some of our most needy students, especially those whose families have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
