NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 19, 2024, LEXINGTON, S.C. — As the Lexington One Educational Foundation closes its Second Quarter and the end of 2024, the Board of Directors and Staff are thankful for the year-end successes and generosity from many donors.

First, the 3rd Annual Fore the Foundation Grand Golf Tournament was held on October 24, 2024 at Golden Hills Golf & Country Club. The day-long golf tournament turned out to be a huge success in raising $36,000 to support the foundation’s mission of serving Lexington District One! The beautiful weather and relaxed atmosphere resulted in a fun day for all golfers, volunteers and event sponsors who attended. Proceeds from this fundraising event enable the foundation board to fund important educational grants to Lexington District One schools, which in turn support the teachers and students throughout the district.

Second, the foundation’s annual Lexington Emergency/Education Assistance Plan (aka LEAP) Campaign was a big success in raising $123,546 for the LEAP Emergency and LEAP Education funds! This effort is a result of close to 100 volunteer LEAP representatives working hard to communicate needs in Lexington District One. Donors are Lexington District One employees who are passionate about students’ needs and choose to donate to the campaign each year. Visit our LEAP webpage to learn more about how the LEAP funds support educational and emergency grants each year in Lexington District One!

Third, after Hurricane Helene, the foundation’s Caring Heart Fund provided close to $3,000 in assistance to Lexington District One families who needed food and/or temporary shelter. The Lexington District One’s social workers identified and worked with these families in crisis and were able to assist them thanks to gifts from foundation donors.

Executive Director Julie Anderson Washburn shared, “The end of the year is a terrific time to reflect on all of our generous donors and how they help and support the Lexington One Educational Foundation. Our golf tournament and annual LEAP Campaign were both successful thanks to caring individuals and corporate leaders who chose to invest in the strong public educational system that Lexington District One offers. We continue to assist many families in need, too, thanks to our various funds and donors who give. Our endeavors to strengthen learning and support our students is only possible thanks to the generosity of many who want to make a positive difference in the Lexington community.”

Reminiscing about awesome donors, many families in crisis who received needed assistance, and the huge impact of educational grants is a wonderful way to end the year for all involved with the Lexington District One Educational Foundation.
