Foundation’s Celebration honored the top graduating seniors in Lexington County School District One

February 27, 2018

February 28, 2018: The Foundation honored 165 seniors who ranked in the top 10% of their senior class on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the annual Celebration of Excellence in Education. More than 600 individuals attended the event at Brookland Banquet and Conference Center that included the honored students, parents, Lexington District One staff and sponsors. The event also included an art gallery featuring artwork from high school students in the district.

The Celebration’s host high school was White Knoll High, so the featured speaker was Floyd White, who is an Assistant Principal at Dutch Fork High School and a 2007 WKHS graduate. The Master of Ceremonies was Brian Glassman, who is a WKHS English Teacher with a broadcasting background. Jody Middleton of Radius Church White Knoll was the pastor for the evening.

Foundation chair Simeon Bryant inducted students from each of the Lexington One High Schools – Gilbert, Lexington, Pelion, River Bluff and White Knoll – into the Old English Society, which is an honored only bestowed upon students who graduate in the top 10% academically of their senior class.

The Foundation leaders were extremely grateful to the many sponsors of this year’s event, which included Duff & Childs, LLC attorneys and counselors at law; Jumper Carter Sease Architects; and an Anonymous friend as lead Diamond level sponsors. The event sponsors made it possible for the Foundation to invite the honored students and two guests at no cost to the family. Platinum level sponsors were Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina; Code to the Future; Halligan Mahoney & Williams, HG Reynolds Co., Inc.; Michelin; Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative, Nephron Pharmaceuticals; Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union; South State Bank; Town of Lexington, SC; Thomas Trinkner, DDS; and Wells Fargo. There were also 25 Gold Level Sponsors, 23 Silver Level Sponsors and 3 College Sponsors that were generous donors to the Celebration this year.
